Dorothy Louise Werner

Dorothy Louise (nee: Martin) Werner, age 91 of Batesville, Indiana, passed peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at St. Andrews’s Health Campus surrounded by her family. Born December 22, 1934, in Middletown, Ohio. She is the daughter of Robert and Ethel (nee: Jackson) Martin. She was married to Robert “Bob” Werner on April 18th, 1959, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Enochsburg, Indiana.

Dorothy was a member of Holy Family Church in Oldenburg, Indiana. She attended grade schools in Middletown, Ohio and Enochsburg, Indiana. She graduated from New Point High School. Upon her marriage to Bob, she became a full-time farmer’s wife and mother. She was a wonderful cook. She made the best oven-fried chicken and potato salad. Her grandchildren looked forward to her chocolate chip cookies whenever they visited. She was a woman of deep faith which helped her through the toughest times of her life. If you ask anyone what they loved best about Dorothy, it was her beautiful smile.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Martha (Donald) Feller, of Batesville, Melinda (Gerald) Harmeyer of Napoleon, Marie (Brian) Clark of Aurora, Marlene Kirschner and Mildred (Thomas) Koehne both of Batesville, Marjorie (Pete) Stankoff of Camden, OH; and daughter-in-law Deborah (Terry) Nobbe of Batesville; sister Joanie Budd of Bedford, IN; 18 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way. She was predeceased in death by her parents; husband Robert “Bob” Werner; sons Mitchell and Michael Werner; and 1 great-grandson, sisters Margaret Giesting Jones, Rosie Martin; and brothers Robert Martin Jr. and Joe Martin.

Visitation is Friday, January 2nd, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:40 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, IN, with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating.
