Batesville Middle School boys basketball went 1-1 at home last night against Columbus Northside. The 7th grade team fell 50-21. Miles Lawrence led the Bulldogs with 12. BMS 7th grade falls to 9-5. The Bulldog 8th graders won 34-24. Logan Schneider poured in 18 for 13-0 BMS.
St. Louis and St. Nicholas split a pair of games played at Oldenburg Academy. It was the Cardinals over the Saints in the 7th grade contest 23-14. St. Nicholas rallied to take the 8th grade game 40-38. Evan Jennings poured in 16 while Cam Walke added 12 for St. Louis.
Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing core muscle surgery, which is scheduled for later this week.
The Indianapolis Colts have signed quarterback Phillip Rivers to the practice squad. The move comes because the team is thin at the QB position due to injuries. The 44-year-old Rivers last played during the 2020 season with the Colts. His last game was in January 2021, a playoff loss at Buffalo.
Kyle Schwarber won’t be coming to the Cincinnati Reds. The native of nearby Middletown, Ohio re-signed with the Philadelphia Phillies. It’s a five-year deal worth $150 million. The Reds made an offer to Schwarber, who reportedly visited with Reds brass at Great American Ball Park during Thanksgiving week.
Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz announced on Tuesday that he will play for his native Dominican Republic in this spring’s World Baseball Classic.
