BHS Swimmers Compete Strongly at Lawrenceburg Invitational

The Batesville High School swim teams delivered a full-roster effort at the annual Lawrenceburg Invitational, highlighted by a runner-up finish for the girls and a meet championship for the boys. With strong swims across all strokes and distances, the Bulldogs continued to show promising mid-season form.

Girls meet recap – 2nd place finish (205 points)

Batesville opened the day with a solid third-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, as Solara Scheel, Alexis Schiller, Cora Miller, and Emma Miller touched in 2:15.56.

Individual Events

  • 200 Free: Emma Miller placed 6th (2:30.77), followed by teammates Briley Broshears (7th, 2:40.43) and Lexi Harris (9th, 2:47.70).
  • 200 IM: Alexis Schiller claimed 5th (2:48.39). Solara Scheel added 8th place, and Alyssa Cummings finished 12th.
  • 50 Free: Cora Miller sprinted to 3rd place (29.10). Reillee Adams placed 11th, and Jade Martin rounded out the Bulldogs’ entries.
  • 100 Fly: Miller returned with another top finish, taking 3rd (1:11.53). Samantha Adams placed 6th, and Broshears finished 8th.
  • 100 Free: Lily Lang (15th), Gabi Alonso (18th), and Harper Beshears (19th) added depth in the mid-distance sprint.
  • 500 Free: The Bulldogs packed the event with scorers — Emma Miller earned 3rd, Lexi Harris 6th, and Grace Copley 7th.
  • 100 Back: Kate Fullenkamp (9th) and Copley (10th) both landed inside the top ten.
  • 100 Breast: Schiller earned a strong 3rd-place finish (1:20.98), followed by Samantha Adams in 4th and Adams in 12th.

Relays

  • 200 Free Relay: Broshears, Fullenkamp, Adams, and Miller earned 2nd place with a season-best 2:00.39.
  • 400 Free Relay: The team of Cummings, Adams, Schiller, and Miller placed 5th with a gritty late-meet performance.

The girls continued to show growing depth, especially in the IM, distance, and breaststroke events.

Boys meet recap – 1st place (235 points) 

The Bulldogs captured the boys championship behind a steady stream of top-five finishes and key relay performances.

Relays Set the Pace

  • 200 Medley Relay: Lambert, Vogelsang, Richardson, and Gribben secured 4th (1:59.23).
  • 200 Free Relay: Oldham, Gribben, Vogelsang, and Kuntz powered to 2nd (1:48.08).
  • 400 Free Relay: Lambert, Oldham, Richardson, and Kuntz closed out the meet with a critical 2nd-place finish (3:56.44), sealing the team title.

Individual Events

  • 200 Free: Ben Kuntz placed 2nd (2:07.89). Jaden Basler and Tanner Young rounded out the Bulldog entries.
  • 200 IM: Parker Oldham finished 7th, while Tripp Hertel added 8th.
  • 50 Free: Matthew Lambert took 2nd (23.97). Leo Obermeyer added 12th, and David Hoegeman also competed.
  • 100 Fly: Sam Richardson posted a strong 2nd-place finish (1:07.68). Oldham placed 6th, and Hertel 8th.
  • 100 Free: Basler earned 11th, followed by Young and Hoegeman.
  • 500 Free: Batesville swept the top three scoring positions —
  • 1st: Ben Kuntz (6:03.48)
  • 2nd: Collin Vogelsang (6:50.83)
  • 3rd: Cruz Gribben (6:55.66)
  • 100 Back: Lambert placed 4th, with Gribben adding 6th.
  • 100 Breast: Vogelsang and Richardson finished 3rd and 4th respectively, while Obermeyer placed 6th.

The boys team showed balance across all events, especially in distance freestyle, sprinting, and breaststroke.

Both Batesville squads walked away with strong team outcomes — the girls securing second place overall, and the boys claiming the meet championship. With relay consistency, breakthrough swims from both veterans and new contributors, and depth across the lineup, the Bulldogs continue trending upward heading into the heart of the season.
