(Greensburg, IN) – North Decatur High School FFA was awarded a $500 Ag Day FFA Grant from the Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and Decatur County Farm Bureau.
This funding will directly support the school’s growing Agribusiness Capstone class, a hands-on, project- based learning opportunity for students.
The Agribusiness Capstone class meets once a week for three hours, giving students dedicated time to design, build, and market products using the school’s workshop equipment. Proceeds from
student-made items—sold at two local craft shows each year as well as through online promotions—are reinvested back into the program. This sustainability model allows students to apply real-world business skills while directly supporting their own classroom operations.
To date, students have worked with simple materials such as 2x4s, stain, and horseshoes to create custom, handcrafted items. With the support of the Ag Day Grant, the class will now be able to
purchase improved tools and additional equipment, helping them expand into new product categories such as vinyl projects, engraving, and heat-press items.
“The grant will significantly enhance the agribusiness capstone course, providing students with a wider range of project options. I strive to equip my students with the necessary resources to bring
their imaginations to life,” said Katie Morman, agriscience teacher and FFA advisor at North Decatur High School.
The Greensburg/Decatur County Chamber of Commerce and Decatur County Farm Bureau award an Ag Day FFA Grant(s) each year to support agricultural education, innovation, and youth development across the community. Funding for the grant is made possible through the annual Ag Day Breakfast, with the 2026 event scheduled for February 7.
