William “Bill” Green, 96, Grove City, Florida

William “Bill” Green, 96, of Grove City, Florida, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Discovery Commons with his daughters by his side. Bill was born on Wednesday, October 9, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio; son of William and Alma (Robinson) Green. Bill married Shirley (Donley) Green on December 14, 1983, and she preceded him in death on September 12, 2021. Bill and Shirley moved to Florida and spent many years fishing, boating, hunting shells and traveling.

Bill served in the United States Army, during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Hopewell Masonic Lodge #80, the American Legion Post #292 (Dillsboro) and #0113 (Rotonda), VFW Post #10476, and Moose Lodge 3000. Bill retired from P&G and also worked in the Painters Union. In his younger years, Bill obtained his commercial pilot license and enjoyed flying his own plane. He liked to land it in the nearby fields close to his mother’s house in Dillsboro. Bill played the guitar, and performed at venues, like the VFW and Railroad Inn. Bill also enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, exploring the beaches and looking for sea treasures. His favorite pastime was taking his family for boat rides, floating around looking for dolphins and manatees.

Bill will be missed by his surviving family: daughters; Robin Cleeter of Dillsboro, IN, Candy Dearden of Greensburg, IN, and Shelly Mullins (Jerry) of North Port, FL, stepson Jamie (Ruth) Utter of Lincoln City, OR, stepdaughters Peggy (Chad) Day of Covington, KY, Becky (Steve) Chipman of Dillsboro, IN, and Beverly Utter of Cincinnati, OH; many grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Marla (Louden) Green on October 5, 1971. His son, William Conley Green on February 14, 2025. His daughter, Cindy Lee Green on November 16, 2025, and his brothers Mike Race on December 14, 1997, and John (Jack) Green on July 21, 2015.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro, IN. Memorials may be given in honor of Bill to the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro, IN.

A lunch will be served immediately following at the Dillsboro Legion Post 292. All family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate the lives of both Bill and Shirley Green.
