Richard “Dick” Schneider

Richard “Dick” Schneider, 72 years old of Sunman, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. He worked locally at Hillenbrand for 44 years; 19 years in production before advancing to the tool room, which is where he retired. A lover of the outdoors, Dick enjoyed hunting for whatever happened to be in season and fishing for anything he could catch. When he brought home a deer, he experimented with many venison dishes for the family to enjoy. Every year Dick traveled to Alabama to visit his daughter and enjoyed deep sea fishing for red snapper. His family jokes that you wouldn’t want to be a tree around Dick because he was always on the lookout for a good tree to cut down for firewood. They will especially miss the song that he sang around the house “put another log on the fire” which kept their house at a toasty temperature throughout the winter. Always the man with a joke, Dick was serious about keeping his family close to his heart and always made sure they came first.

Dick will be deeply missed by daughters Christina Schneider, April Schneider, and Castiel Stephens-Schneider; very dear friend Dora Schneider; siblings: Jim (Patty) Schneider, Carl (DeeDee) Schneider, Mary (Tim) Holston, Tony (Julene) Schneider, Tim (Melissa) Schneider, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by wife Vickie Schneider, brother Don Schneider, and parents Raymond & Rita Schneider.

Services for Dick will be held on Monday, November 24 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Visitation will begin at 9:00am and continue until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Margaret Mary Hospice and will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home.  Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com.
