(Letts, IN) – Letts and Westport volunteer firefighters, with assistance provided by the Greensburg Fire Department, responded just around 6:57 a.m. Wednesday to a house fire on the 2,000 block of West County Road 400 South.

First arriving units found smoke coming from the eaves of the home.

Crews initiated an interior attack and located the fire in the kitchen ceiling, where it extended up to the second floor.

Access to the upper floor was restricted because it was boarded up, so firefighters got in through a window.

The flames were brought under control around 7:33 a.m.

The home had working smoke detectors.

There were no injuries reported.

The family was displaced and is being assisted by the American Red Cross.

Decatur County EMS and Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies also responded.
