Phyllis Jean Fox, age 91, of Brookville, Indiana died Monday, November 10, 2025 at her residence in Brookville following a brief illness.
She was born on June 3, 1934 in Batesville, Indiana the daughter of the late Paul & Mildred (Withrow) Swartz. She was united in marriage to Charles N. Fox, and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1965.
She worked as a Teachers Aid & Assistant Librarian in the Franklin County Community School Corporation for 16 years. She later worked at FCN Bank in Brookville, retiring just before her 80TH birthday after over 35 years of employment there.
In her leisure time she enjoyed reading and sports – especially Cincinnati Reds Baseball and Indiana University Basketball. She was an active member of the Brookville United Methodist Church, as well as a 70 year member of Tri Kappa. Phyllis loved to sing, performing with the Metamora Performing Arts and her church choir.
Survivors include two sons, Chris (Anne Adams) Fox of Aurora, Indiana and Greg (Henriette) Fox of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Julie (Jim) Laskey of Florence, Kentucky and Joni (Chuck) Kerns of West Harrison, Indiana; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Charles, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Fox, who died April 27, 1996, and a brother, Robert P. Swartz, who died on July 19, 1996.
Family & friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Brookville United Methodist Church, 150 East 8TH Street, Brookville.
Pastor Steve Rundel will officiate the Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon, Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Brookville United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Brookville.
