Several Candidates Appear at 9th Congressional District Healthcare Debate

(Batesville, IN) – Several 9th Congressional District candidates took part in a healthcare debate at the Liberty Park Pavilion in Batesville on Saturday.

The event was hosted by the Ripley and Franklin County Democratic parties.

“It was a great debate, and there were many candidates whom people had not heard from yet, so it gave them an opportunity to answer some pretty important questions about the of healthcare in our district,” said Franklin County Democratic Party Chair Christina Perrson. “We’re already hearing people are paying 400 percent more on their policy, or will, in the coming year. People can’t do that. I mean, they’re already strapped tight with the cost of living and the other things that are happening in this nation.”

Organizers says the event was dedicated to raising awareness about the critical need for improved rural healthcare access and encouraging strong civic engagement among voters.

The debate centered on healthcare policies and solutions impacting the 9th Congressional District.

Those who took part included Democratic congressional candidates Tim Peck, Brad Meyer and James Davidson, plus independent candidate Floyd Taylor. Organizers say Republican incumbent Erin Houchin was invited but did not respond. Democrat Jim Graham had to cancel at the last minute.
