(Decatur County, IN) – A group opposed to the establishment and construction of an Artificial Intelligence data center in Decatur County has organized an event for this weekend.
The Coalition to Protect Decatur County Against A-I Data Center will meet from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 6290 North County Road 350 West.
The organization says AI data centers pose threats to communities by risking clean resources and raising utility costs.
On Saturday, they plan to discuss the coalition’s structure, the next steps, and several other items.
Back in December, Greensburg City Council unanimously approved a 10-year, 60-percent real property tax abatement for Jumping Bison LLC, which is looking to build a data center in a 550-acre Economic Revitalization Area (ERA) that includes the Business Enterprise Park, which is located along I-74 and opposite Honda’s Indiana Auto Plant.
Jumping Bison is a U.S.-based company, and plans a two-phase project with a $400 million investment for each phase.
