(Hamilton County, OH) – A woman from Southeastern Indiana was arrested in the Cincinnati area following a police chase in which she allegedly struck an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser.
38-year-old Jennifer Monnig of Dearborn County was taken into custody in Colerain Township on Monday following the pursuit on I-275 near Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway.
Monnig allegedly fled from marked police cruisers that had their lights and sirens on, and crossed multiple lanes of the interstate to try and hit a trooper while driving recklessly.
She is accused of deliberately hitting a cruiser after a trooper used a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver, which is a tactic used by law enforcement by having a patrol car nudge the rear of the suspect vehicle and cause it to spin out of control in an attempt to bring a pursuit to a quick and safe end.
Investigators allege Monnig was under the influence of drugs or alcohol when she fled from police.
According to Local 12, she is being held on a $210,000 bond on Felonious Assault, OVI, Failure to Comply and other traffic-related charges.
