Laura Faye (Huckaby) Kafka, 61 years old of Sunman, IN passed away peacefully the evening of October 18, 2025. Laura, one of five children, grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It was in Oklahoma that she met the love of her life, James Kafka, while working the jewelry counter at Kmart. As soon as they locked eyes, they knew they were made for each other. The lyrics from the song, Sea of Love, by the Honeydrippers say it best “Do you remember when we met? That’s the day I knew you were my babe”. Their work moved them around the country until they finally settled in Sunman, IN. After working for a transportation company for 13 years, Laura decided to follow her passion and start her own business. She made crafts such as hair bows and girls clothing and leaned into her passion of the obscure by making art out of just about anything. Laura and Beau were avid Rock Hounds who traveled all over seeking crystals and stones from mines, ravines, and other geological bed layers. She started two businesses in her years, first being 3 Gals Boutique named for her daughters, and the second was Kafka Krystal’s Bones and Kuriosities.
As the children grew up, Laura was the sports mom offering to keep score for all the baseball games and was the loudest supporter in the stands. She opened up her home to her children’s friends and easily became their second mom. As they got older, she enjoyed sharing her love for paranormal activities with them. Laura’s family was her whole world. She loved fiercely and would fight tooth and nail for her them. When grandchildren entered the picture, they became the light of her life.
Laura will be deeply missed by James, her husband of 41 years; children Corey (Tara) Kafka, Daniel (Madison) Kafka, Justin (Elizabeth) Kafka, Alexandra Kafka, and Graci Kafka; grandchildren Gavin, Elijah, Kaydin, Keegan, Ayla, Arayah, Koltyn, Kaseyn, Brantley, Bryson, and Ambrose; siblings Gary (Carol) Huckaby and Donna Huckaby. She is preceded in death by brothers Bill and Bobby Huckaby; and parents Louella and Leon Huckaby.

Memorials will be accepted at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home. Family and friends are encouraged to leave condolences at www.andres-wuestefeldfh.com.
