James “Jim” Wilbur Meyer, 86, of Batesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, surrounded by family.

Born on October 19, 1938, in Batesville, Indiana, Jim was the son of Carl and Mary Ann (née Gerling) Meyer. He graduated Batesville High School in 1957 and served in the Army Reserve. Jim started working for Bruns Brothers Masonry at age seventeen as a masonry apprentice and working his way up as journey man. After fifty-one years, Jim retired from Bruns-Gutzwiller Construction as the General Super-intendant.

A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Jim dedicated himself to his family, friends, and work. He was a football enthusiast who enjoyed traveling with his wife and friends, spending time in nature, and being around his loved ones. Jim spent his remaining fourteen winters in Florida. He was a member of St. Louis Church, the Knights of St. John’s, and the Knights of Columbus.

Jim was preceded in death by his infant brother John, his brothers George and Larry, and infant granddaughter Caroline Small. He is survived by his wife Constance (née Blank), his four daughters Dawn (Kevin) Owens, Beth (David) Freese, Amy (Daniel) Bryan, Melissa (Patrick) Small, two brothers Dennis and Tom, along with twelve grandchildren, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

Visitation is Friday, October 17th, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home with A Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Louis Church, with Fr. John Barker, OFM officiating. The burial will be at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville immediately following.
