(Southeastern IN) – The Franklin County burn ban will remain in place until further notice.
County Commissioners made the call on Thursday to continue the countywide ban on open burning based on the latest U.S. Drought Monitor map (pictured).
It shows half of Franklin County, all of Ripley and Dearborn counties, and the very southern edge of Decatur County in a moderate drought.
Other parts of Southeastern Indiana are considered abnormally dry.
Dearborn County also remains under a countywide burn ban.
Drought conditions are expected to worsen with little to no sign of rain in the forecast for at least the next seven days.
