(Evansville, IN) – Former Greensburg Police Officer Sam Taylor is recovering after he was shot multiple times while on duty in Evansville.

He has been moved to an out-of-state specialized spinal center to address injuries affecting his neck, back and nerves.

Taylor was a probationary officer with the Evansville Police Department when he was shot in the line of duty last month.

His field training officer returned fire and wounded the shooting suspect, who was released from the hospital and booked on several charges, including attempted murder, robbery and resisting law enforcement.

Taylor served with the Greensburg Police Department from 2023 until last year.

The Evansville FOP Lodge has set up a relief fund to help Taylor’s family.
