(Dearborn County, IN) – Dearborn County Commissioners have issued a countywide burn ban due to the continued lack of rainfall, plus high temperatures and humidity.
The ban is in effect until further notice.
It was determined that vegetation is so dry around the county that it may easily combust and become a fire hazard.
A vast majority of fire chiefs in the county is in favor of the burn ban.
Open burning, campfires and the use of fireworks are prohibited while the ban is in place, with a few exceptions.
Anyone who violates the burn ban is subject to fines ranging from $200 to $1,000 plus court costs.
