The Batesville Cross Country Invite was a hot, dusty race. The sun was out and the racing was done in a cloud of dust.  Overall, the East Central Trojans raced well with several runners having their second or third best times of the season. Three Trojans got personal records: Ostyn Gellert, Gabrielle Karle and Layla Gambrel.

In the boys’ race, the Trojans were able to get their five scoring runners in the top 15: Hiltz, Toler, Keck, Lyon and Gellert. Freshman Ostyn ran his fastest race and took the fifth varsity spot. Daniel Broering and Jacob Scudder also raced well in the sixth and seventh positions. However, Batesville had more runners across the line before them and won the Invitational.

On the girls’ side it was much of the same story- there were five trojans in the top 15 (Gambrel, Donawerth, Karle, Harmeyer, and Middendorf). However, Batesville took the top three spots, so they had a lower score. Josie West and Layla Gambrel had good races with Layla obtaining a PR.

There was a boys JV race and three of the Trojans scored well: Alex Middendorf and Issac Vollmer were in the top 10 and Hayden Nix took first place.

The Trojans get little rest with the Greensburg Invite on Thursday.
