Sports Daily Digest September 30, 2025

South Decatur volleyball defeated Jac-Cen-Del in three sets. Scores were 25-18, 25-19 ,25-21 in favor of the Cougars.

Milan and South Ripley split in varsity and JV volleyball. The Indians won the varsity contest in five sets (First two South Ripley 26-24, 25-20; last three Milan 25-22, 25-17, 15-13).  The Raiders claimed the JV match in two sets (25-20, 25-18).

Oldenburg Academy swept North Decatur on the volleyball court. The varsity Twisters won in four sets (25-22, 25-15, 26-24, 25-22); the OA JVs won in two sets.

South Ripley swept Batesville at the SEI Tourney. It was the Raider 7th graders over the Bulldogs 25-24, 25-13. South Ripley topped Batesville in the 8th grade match 25-18, 25-20 to hand the Bulldogs their only defeat of the season. Batesville 8th grade finishes at 15-1.

The IHSAA has released pairings for the boys golf and boys and girls soccer state tournaments. You can see sectional draws for area teams on the Local Sports page of WRBI radio.com.

South Decatur has canceled its homecoming football game this Friday against Switzerland County due to low roster numbers and for the safety and well-being of Cougar players. The Homecoming pep session, parade and coronation of royalty will still take place on Friday. The homecoming dance has been postponed to a later date.

The Denver Broncos dumped the Cincinnati Bengals 28-3 on Monday Night Football in the Mile High City. The Broncos rolled up 512 yards total offense while the Bengals could only muster 159. Cincinnati had just nine first downs but committed 11 penalties, and was 2 for 11 on third down. With the loss, the Bengals fall to 2-2.

In the other NFL Monday night game, the Miami Dolphins held off the New York Jets 27-21.

The Cincinnati Reds begin National League Wild Card play tonight in Los Angeles against the NL West champion Dodgers. LA native Hunter Greene will start tonight’s best-of-three series opener for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by fellow righthander Blake Snell. Coverage begins tonight at 8:38 on 103.9 FM.

Four Reds have been nominated for the 2025 All-MLB Team. They are pitchers Andrew Abbott, Hunter Greene, and Emilio Pagan and shortstop Elly De La Cruz. The winners will be announced in November.

The Indiana Fever meets the Las Vegas Aces in the fifth and deciding game of their best-of-five WNBA Semifinal series tonight. The winner advances to the WNBA Finals against the Phoenix Mercury. Tipoff tonight between the Fever and Aces in Las Vegas is 9:30.
