Firefighters Deal with Smoke at FCHS

(Brookville, IN) – Several fire departments were called to Franklin County High School Thursday evening on a report of smoke coming from the ceiling just outside of the cafeteria.

About 20 young women were in the building for cheer practice when one of their coaches saw smoke and called 9-1-1.

Smoke was reported coming from a light cover and nearby ceiling tiles.

Firefighters from Brookville, Cedar Grove and Blooming Grove responded and discovered a problem with an electrical outlet in the office area.

Superintendent Dustin Gehring posted on social media that, after bringing the issue under control, firefighters inspected the entire building and determined it was safe to occupy.

There were no injuries reported.

Franklin County High School was open for classes on Friday.
