(Greensburg, IN) – An estimated 35 people gathered Thursday evening on the Moscow Road Bridge over I-74 to wave American flags on Patriot Day to mark the 24th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Current City of Greensburg Board of Works member Robin Meyer started the custom of waving Old Glory on the overpass nine years ago but he did it by himself.

Several years later, others started joining Meyer, and the group eventually became known as the Overpass Patriots.

They have gathered since then to waive the Stars and Stripes on the bridge on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and other patriotic dates.

The group returns to the overpass on Veterans Day (Tuesday, November 11).
