Man Injured in Aurora Fire

(Aurora, IN) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation into a residential fire in Aurora Monday night that resulted in a 77-year-old man being flown to the hospital.

Firefighters arriving at the home on Lincoln Street were told of an entrapment and went to the back of the home, but had trouble getting in because the victim collapsed in front of the door and was blocking the entrance.

EMS and firefighters were eventually able get inside and pull the man to safety while crews from several departments put out the flames.

The victim was taken by Air Care to UC Medical Center for treatment of smoke inhalation and burns on his arms.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.
