(Lawrenceburg/Batesville, IN) – Ivy Tech Community College has received a $1,500 grant from Duke Energy to help the college’s Lawrenceburg and Batesville campuses provide a free student resource shop with food, ingredients, recipes, on-the-go snacks and other items that students need.
The resource shop, called Food for Thought, is fully staffed Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. by Ivy Tech nursing students as part of the college’s Nursing Program nutrition curriculum.
Food for Thought offers meal bags at the Batesville campus along with the Lawrenceburg Riverfront and Lakefront campuses.
The college’s student biology club grows vegetables on campus to stock the pantry.
“We are incredibly grateful to Duke Energy for their generous support,” said Loretta Day, Ivy Tech Lawrenceburg Executive Director of Development. “This grant will enable us to help students meet their needs and be well prepared for success as they continue their education at Ivy Tech.
