Elizabeth Kay “Betsy” Stirn

Elizabeth Kay “Betsy” Stirn, age 69 of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at her residence.  Born May 9, 1956, in Batesville, she is the daughter of Ray and Alice (Nee: Vankirk) Wilson.  She married Timothy “Tim” Stirn on May 31, 2008, at the Knights of Columbus in Batesville.

Betsy was an Army veteran, serving in active duty from 1986 – 1988 and then served in the Army Reserves until 1994.  She worked in the factory at the Batesville Casket Company for over 30 years, before retiring.

Betsy found the love of her life after serving in the military when she and Tim found each other in 2005 on match.com and later discovered that they worked together at Batesville Casket. Three short years later they exchanged vows and have been side by side ever since. She enjoyed spending her down time on “the farm” property they shared together. She also had a passion for her cats that she rescued and gave forever homes.

She is survived by her husband Tim of Batesville; sister Mary (Art) Smith of Greensburg, Indiana; brothers Dan (Anna) Wilson of Osgood, Indiana and James Wilson of Greensburg; nieces Christy Sutton, Melissa Ramey, Lacie Adams, and Vickie Dunn; nephews Darren, Jeremiah, and Anthony Wilson, as well as numerous Stirn sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

In addition to her parents, Betsy was preceded in death by her brother David Wilson.

Visitation is Thursday, August 28th, from 12 – 2 p.m., at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  Funeral services follow at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with Hoagie and Debbie Wright officiating.  The burial will be at the Batesville United Methodist Cemetery, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3183 and by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville.  Memorial contributions may be made to Margaret Mary Health Hospice, Margaret Mary Health Oncology, Habitat for Humanity or the Ripley County Humane Society.  For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
