Louis Malcom Eckstein, age 93, West Harrison

 

Louis Malcom Eckstein, a devoted father and cherished family man, was born on August 2, 1932, in Sunman, Indiana. He departed this world peacefully at home on August 12, 2025, surrounded by the love he cultivated throughout his remarkable life.

Louis dedicated 54 years of his career as a roofer with CA Eckstein, showcasing an unwavering work ethic and commitment to craftsmanship that will be remembered by colleagues and clients alike. His roots in the community were not only built through his work but also as a graduate of Lawrenceburg High School, where he demonstrated the values of dedication and perseverance.

A proud member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War, Louis served with honor and distinction, later returning to serve his community and family with the same spirit of duty.

He was blessed with a large and loving family, including his children Louann Johnson, Renea Ashcraft, Janet (Joseph) Joyce, Sandra (Dennis) Wagner, Douglas (Leana) Eckstein, and Steven (Tricia) Eckstein. His legacy continues through his 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Louis’ enduring love for his family was exemplified by the profound bond he shared with his late wife, Cecile Kathleen (Kremer) Eckstein. Together they spent 45 beautiful years, carved from love, laughter, and the indelible memories that are now cherished by their family.

He also leaves behind the warmth of remembrance for his parents, Henry and Gertrude (Long) Eckstein, and his beloved children who have preceded him in death

: Victoria Gilligan, Louis M. Eckstein, Jr., along with his grandson Anthony Ashcraft and great-grandson Aiden Brown.

In addition, Louis is survived by the loving memory of his siblings James Eckstein, Charles Eckstein, Thomas Eckstein, Henry Eckstein, Gertrude Kidwell, Threse Slayback, Loraine Lipps, Dorothy Kidwell, Lucille Heath, and Bertha Ford.

A visitation to celebrate Louis’ life will be held at Jackman Hensley Funeral Home in Harrison, Ohio, on August 20, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service starting at 12:00 p.m. All are welcome to gather and share in the memories and stories that honor the incredible journey of Louis Malcom Eckstein, a man who left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. His spirit will continue to shine brightly through the lives he touched and the love he spread. Burial will follow immediately with military honors provided by the United States Air Force and the Harrison Honor Guard at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery, 810 Neeb Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45233.
