Donald L. Vogeler, 80, of Versailles passed away at 9:25 a.m., Thursday, July 31, 2025 at his home. He was born in Rochelle, Illinois on April 12, 1945, the son of Lawrence and Dorothy Bojangles Voegler. He was married to Debra Goodpaster on December 24, 1982 and she survives. Other survivors include one daughter Beth Wilson of Versailles; grandchildren Briana (Brent) Imel, Brittany, Brooke, Cameron, and Christopher Begley, Jr.; great-grandchildren Brendan, Isabel, Ruby, Brentley, and Braelynn Imel, Bryson Colmenares, Ryan Paris, and Scarlett Mabry; one brother Ron (Marcia) Voegler of Roscoe, Illinois; one sister Audrey Seebach of Rockford, Illinois. Don enlisted in the US Army on January 16, 1967, serving with the 67th Signal Battalion. Before being discharged on January 21, 1969, he received the National Defense Service Medal and qualified as a marksman with the pistol and rifle. His working career spanned many years, working for US Shoe in Osgood and Madison Electronics in Versailles. His primary occupation was being an independent truck driver, hauling grain locally. Don was a Ham Radio Operator in Ripley County for 40 years. Don’s wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
