Janet Dawson

Janet Margaret Dawson, age 95, of West Harrison, Indiana, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025. Janet was born to parents Irvin and Lillie Donlon on May 20th, 1930, in Dover, Indiana. She attended Guilford High School, where she met the love of her life, Earl Dawson. Upon graduation, Janet worked at the Shoe Factory and Campbell Hausfeld in Harrison, OH. On June 28, 1952, she married Earl, and they began their life together on the Smith/Dawson homestead farm on Sawdon Ridge in Guilford.

Janet took special joy in raising her family. Her love was felt in the support she tirelessly gave to her husband and children on the farm, as well as countless school, church, and 4H projects. While raising her family, she also worked as a cook in the cafeteria at East Central High School.  Janet was a lifelong member of All Saints Parish- formerly St. John’s Parish in Dover. She was involved with the Ladies Sodality organization there, as well as being a member of the Dearborn County Homemakers. Janet was an unwavering prayer warrior who loved the Lord, always seeking out family and friends who needed help. Though Janet loved sewing and quilting, her favorite cherished role was being a grandma, where she always made time for conversation, special trips, attending sporting events and concerts, and playing games with her grandchildren.

Janet is survived by her children, Brian (Sandra Simmons), Shelley (Kurt Fiech), Sara, Brad. (Michelle), as well as 7 grandchildren: Nina, Hannah, Luke, Corey, Rachel, Maddie, Shelby and 10 great grandchildren: Paul, Levi, Asa, Evelyn, Lucille, Austin, Victor, Jasper, Otto, and Allen. She is preceded in death by her brother Merlin, husband Earl – married 60 years, and granddaughter Megan.

Services for Janet will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home. Rosary will begin at 9:00am followed by visitation until 11:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 12:00 at St. John’s Campus of All Saints Parish. Burial in the church cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to All Saints Parish Ladies Sodality, the Activity Fund at Saint Andrews Health Campus, and Margaret Mary Hospice in Batesville, Indiana.
