Rita Angela Brockman, age 94 of Oldenburg, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Born May 10, 1931, in Batesville, she is the daughter of Andrew and Catherine (Nee: Hittle) Hahn. She married Lawrence Brockman on April 23, 1955, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville, and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1995.
Rita was a homemaker and a devout catholic who attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana. She actively participated in the Fall Festival, Rummage Sale, and making turtle soup. She was a wonderful cook that would prepare memorable meals for the family of 11. This led to her leading a life of servitude and enjoyed helping and serving family and friends. She loved tending to her flowers and feeding the hummingbirds on her porch. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching game shows. Her competitive nature could always be found at the card table; she was a member of several local card clubs and continued playing with the family in her last days.
She is survived by her daughters Therese Doll of Batesville, Cathy (Doug) Nobbe of Oldenburg, Mary (Terry) Gentry of Cincinnati, Ohio, Margaret (Adam) Arceneaux and Cindy (Marc) Stansifer, both of Carmel, Indiana; sons Martin (Alice) Brockman and Paul (Kim) Brockman, both of Oldenburg, John (Joan) Brockman of Indianapolis, Indiana and Larry (Beth) Brockman of Durham, North Carolina; 22 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband Larry, Rita was preceded in death by her son-in-law Mike Doll; grandchildren Lambert and Rachel Doll; brother Bill Hahn; sisters Joan Francisco and Carol Hahn.
Visitation is Sunday, July 13th, from 1 – 4 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville, with a rosary service at 12:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 14th, at 10:00 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, with Fr. John Barker, OFM officiating. The burial will be at Holy Family Cemetery, with a funeral luncheon following in the Holy Family cafeteria.
