Eleanor “Ellie” Brinkman, 90, of Greendale, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025. She was born on February 11, 1935, in Milan, Indiana, the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Butt) Voss.
Ellie was a 1953 graduate of Milan High School and a 1957 graduate of Franklin College. She later earned advanced degrees in Education and Learning. Ellie dedicated 35 years of her life to teaching Language Arts at Greendale Middle School, where she left a lasting impact on generations of students. She was also a longtime and active member of the First Baptist Church of Greendale.
In 1957, she married the love of her life, Bill “Brink” Brinkman. Together, they made their home in Greendale and pursued lifelong careers in education, enriching the lives of countless young people across the Greendale and Lawrenceburg school systems.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Heather) Brinkman of Virginia Beach, VA, Susan (John) Ehmann of Dublin, OH, Bill (Michelle) Brinkman of Lebanon, OH; her brother, Paul (Sheryl) Voss of Batesville, IN; 5 grandchildren, Josh Couper (Sara), Caitie Couper (Yeahwa), Megan Couper, London Brinkman (Austin), Beck Brinkman; and her 4 great grandchildren, Charles, Ellie, Addison, and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mable Voss; husband, William Brinkman; and 3 siblings, Virginia Craft, Esther Voss, and Henry Voss.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 10 am to 12 pm at First Baptist Church Greendale, 45 Tebbs Ave, Greendale, IN 47025. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church Greendale, Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 12 pm, with Mark Tanner officiating.
Interment will follow in the Greendale Cemetery, Greendale, Indiana.
