(Greensburg, IN) – A Metamora resident has been arrested in connection with an armed home entry in Greensburg.
Investigators say Decatur County Dispatch received a call around 3:00 Wednesday morning from a home on the 400 block of West North Street about a man forcing his way in.
Residents and witnesses told police that 40-year-old Ethan Pierce broke a window armed with a rifle.
The people inside fled the home and hid nearby before, police say, Pierce left the residence through the same window and fled the area.
Greensburg Police officers and Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies worked through the night and into the next day looking for Pierce.
He was arrested in Shelby County by deputies and Shelbyville police officers around 8 a.m.
Pierce is charged with Burglary while armed with a deadly weapon (Level 2 felony), Intimidation (Level 5 felony), Criminal Recklessness and Pointing a Firearm (both Level 6 felonies).
The Batesville Police Department, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Indiana State Police assisted Greensburg PD.
