After dropping yesterday afternoon’s resumption of Tuesday’s suspended game, 5-3 at Boston’s Fenway Park, the Reds bounced back in last night’s regularly scheduled series finale by a final score of 8-4 as heard on WRBI. Cincinnati trailed 3-0 before Christian Encarnacio-Strand put the Reds ahead with his first career grand slam in the 7th inning. The Reds would add one more in that frame, and put the game out of reach with three more in the 8th to salvage the series finale against the Red Sox. Nick Martinez earned his sixth win of the year. The Reds will enjoy an off day in Philadelphia before kicking off a weekend series against the Phillies tomorrow afternoon on the 4th of July.
Major League Baseball has announced the starters for this month’s All-Star Game. The American League features Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees, Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez and Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. The Chicago Cubs’ Kyle Tucker and Pete Crow-Armstrong are starters for the National League along with three Los Angeles Dodgers in Will Smith, Freddie Freeman and Shohei Ohtani. The Midsummer Classic will be played July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta.
The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champion Indiana Fever return home tonight to face the Las Vegas Aces. Caitlin Clark is expected to miss her fourth straight game as she deals with a groin injury. Tipoff in downtown Indianapolis is at 7 p.m.
