The Reds yesterday designated infielder Jeimar Candelario for assignment. Candalario signed a three-year, $45 million contract with the Reds in December 2023, but has largely struggled at the plate since joining the team. With Candelario halfway into his deal, the team will owe him $22.5 million through 2026.
Elly De La Cruz has moved up to third place among shortstops in voting for the National League All-Star team. The Indiana Pacers confirmed guard Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the first quarter of Game Seven of the NBA Finals Sunday night. An MRI on Monday confirmed the injury. Haliburton will likely miss the 2025-26 season, but the team did not announce a timeline for his return.
