The event celebrated the academic accomplishments and character of local students, continuing a longstanding tradition of community support for educational excellence.
This year’s scholarship recipients include:
- Georgia Voegele, recipient of the $3,500 Kiwanis Achievement Scholarship
-
Isabel Raab, awarded the $2,000 Batesville Kiwanis Scholastic Scholarship
- Henry Koehne, awarded the $1,000 Batesville Kiwanis Scholarship
The evening opened with remarks from Paul Ketcham, Superintendent of the Batesville Community School Corporation, who praised both the students and the civic organizations behind the event.
“This evening is one of my favorite traditions—a time when our community pauses to honor academic excellence, personal growth, and the power of potential,” said Ketcham. “The work done behind the scenes by the Batesville Kiwanis Club is nothing short of extraordinary.”
With roots tracing back more than six decades, the ceremony began under the leadership of the Batesville Jaycees and continues today through the dedication of the Kiwanis Club.
Their investment in the community’s youth goes beyond a single evening of recognition. The Batesville Kiwanis Scholastic Award Fund, held with the Ripley County Community Foundation, has grown to over $115,000, ensuring that the legacy of honoring academic achievement will continue for generations to come.
“That is legacy. That is foresight. That is community in action,” Ketcham added.
The Batesville Kiwanis Club remains committed to empowering the next generation of leaders through education, service, and celebration of student success.
