Batesville walked off Greensburg 4-3 in eight innings in high school baseball yesterday. The game was tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth when Alex Krekeler smacked a home run to left field to win it in dramatic fashion for the Bulldogs. Greensburg led 3-2 going into the bottom of the 7th until Will Jaisle’s single to center tied the game and sent it into extra innings. Joshua Borgman got the win in relief. Batesville ends the regular season at 19-5 and wins the EIAC with a 12-2 conference mark.
The Pacers held off the New York Knicks 114-109 in Game Two of the Eastern Conference finals at Madison Square Garden as heard last night on the Sports Voice. With the win, Indiana takes a two games to none lead in the best of seven series. Paskal Siakim poured in a game high 39 points to lead the way for the Blue and Gold. Game Three is tomorrow night in downtown Indianapolis. WRBI coverage begins at 7:30.
The Chicago Cubs hammered the Reds 13-6 last night at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati led 6-2 until a late inning Reds bullpen meltdown. The Cubs erupted for six runs in the 7th inning, three in the 8th and two in the 9th. Tony Santillan was pinned with the loss in relief. The Reds fall to 25-27, 6 1/2 games behind the Cubs in the Central Division. The series continues this afternoon. Andrew Abbott starts for the Reds. He’ll be opposed by Colin Rea.
