(Brookville, IN) – The Brookville community is marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day – May 8, 1945, the day celebrating the Allies acceptance of Germany’s unconditional surrender during World War II.
In honor of the many service members who lost their lives in World War II, Never Forget Banners have been placed along Main Street in Brookville.
The banners bear the name and photo of each service member, their branch of service, and the date and location of where they died.
They are being displayed throughout the month of May, and are sponsored by Brookville American Legion Post #77, Sons of the American Legion, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Brookville VFW Post #2014, and the Twin Forks Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
