Batesville varsity baseball doubled up Jennings County 6-3 on Friday.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Dane Dudley grounded out, and Mason Jones singled to right field, each scoring one run.
Jennings County took the lead in the top of the third inning after Batesville committed an error, and Kyle Byram lined out, each scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, the Bulldogs went back into the lead after Rylan Yeager singled up the middle, and Josh Borgman walked, each scoring one run.
Dudley homered to right field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for Batesville.
Cayden Drake started on the mound for the Bulldogs. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit and three runs (zero earned) over three innings, striking out four and walking one. Borgman earned the win going four innings in relief for Batesville. The hurler gave up three hits and zero runs while striking out four and walking one. Cooper Lane took the loss for Jennings County. The starter went three innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out none and walking five.
The Bulldogs amassed 13 hits in the game. Dudley drove the middle of the lineup, leading Batesville with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Carson Schneider set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Batesville with three hits in four at bats. Yeager, Jones, Will Jaisle, and Ronan Post each collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Brayden Maple led Batesville with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, tallying six walks for the game. Jaisle stole two bases. Batesville ran wild on the base paths, collecting five stolen bases for the game.
Ethan Speer, Cole Skinner, Carter Hudson, and Wyatt Meade each collected one hit for Jennings County. Byram and Lane each drove in one run for Jennings County. The Panthers turned two double plays in the game. Jennings County didn’t commit a single error in the field. Alex Brooks had the most chances in the field with six.
Batesville moves to 13-4 on the season and will travel to Rushville for their next game on Monday.
