Nanci Crone Ross, 77

Nanci Crone Ross, 77, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away Thursday, May 8th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Nanci was born in Danville, IL on April 2, 1948, a daughter of the late Iva (Brown) Crone and J. Hall Crone. She was a graduate of Seeger High School in Lebanon, IN and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University. Nanci was the wife of Ralph Anthony “Tony” Ross, who preceded her on August 30, 2010. In addition to providing a loving home to her family, Nanci owned and operated the Front Parlor Antique Shop in Rising Sun for 13 years. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, IN and was very active in church activities and projects. Nanci was very community oriented and worked with the Ohio Community Foundation, the Ohio County Historical Society and Hillforest in Aurora along with several other causes. Nanci was also a devoted longtime member of the Tri Kappa Sorority. Nanci loved her community and was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever she could.

Nanci is survived by her two daughters, Susan Street (Matthew), of Wabash, IN and Anne Skinner (Brian), of DeLand, FL; by her son, Jake Alexander (Jill), of Delhi, OH; by three step daughters, Lucy Rolfes (Dave); Caroline Niccum (Chris) and Mary Ross Hamm; by two step sons, Leo Ross and John Ross; by her grandchildren: Matthew Skinner, Claire Street, Samantha Niccum, August Niccum, Olivia Roettker, Nick Roettker, Nathan Roettker, Jake Ross & Whitney Ross. Nanci is also survived by two sisters, Suzi Senesac (Lynn), of Lafayette, IN and Julie Matthews (Ken), of Woodland Park, CO.

Memorial services will be held at 6:00 PM, Tuesday, May 13th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN with Father John Hollowell officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13th at Markland Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or 4th Street Food Project – a community service providing meals to those in need (checks payable to First Presbyterian Church).
