(Decatur County, IN) – Six people were hospitalized following a head on collision near the intersection of State Road 3 and County Road 400 South in the Letts area shortly before 8:00 Tuesday morning.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says the preliminary investigation determined a van driven by 34-year-old Samantha Blessing of Greensburg was northbound on 3 when it appears the vehicle was passing a semi and collided with a southbound car driven by a 16-year-old.
Blessing, a passenger in her van and the driver of the car were transported by helicopter to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
Three other passengers in Blessing’s van were taken by ambulance to Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
The passengers in the van ranged in age from seven months to nine years.
The crash remains under investigation.
State Road 3 was closed for about three-and-a-half hours during the initial investigation and cleanup.
