BHS Track Results-Bill Self Invitational

The Batesville High School track team traveled to Franklin Community High School Friday night to compete in the Bill Self Invitational. For most of the meet, there were strong gusts of wind causing some challenges, even causing the meet director to make the decision to move the pole vault competition inside their fieldhouse. Batesville posted some really great performances throughout the night, taking away 10 first place finishes and almost 30 personal best performances. The boys team was just 3 points away from taking home the championship trophy with Franklin Community winning 125.5 to Batesville’s 122.5. Perry Meridian came in 3rd at 111 followed closely by Shelbyville at 104. Jennings County took 5th-73.5, Martinsville 6th-45.5 and Connersville 7th with 32. On the girls side it was Franklin Community again who came out on top with 154 points. Perry Meridian just nudged out Batesville by 5 points 131-126.  Jennings County came in 4th-64.5, followed closely by Martinsville at 60. Shelbyville placed 6th-43.5, just beating Connersville with 40.
Also at the Bill Self Invitational, they honor one senior girl and one senior boy from each track team who are strong leaders for the team and strong community service.  This year we are proud to announce that Kaylynn Bedel and Isaac Trossman were chosen for this award.  Congratulations Kaylynn and Isaac!
