BCSC Board Holding Final Evening Meeting

(Batesville, IN) – The Batesville Community School Board will meet tonight at 6 in the high school’s Bulldog Center.

Effective in July, state statute will require all school board meetings to be livestreamed and archived.

Superintendent Paul Ketcham says, in addition to transparency, this will allow for more community participation.

The school board has traditionally met on the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m.

“There’s really not that much participation the community (at that time), and it’s also hard to get students and staff and principals back on Monday nights,” Ketcham said.

Starting with the May 21 session, regular meetings will take place the third Wednesday of the month at Noon in the BHS Bulldog Center.

“The thought process is, during lunch, people can jump on livestream. If they want to come over to the school, we’d love to have them,” Ketcham said. “But what that really does is create a robust atmosphere for our board meetings, where we can have any of our K-12 students, any of our teachers, any of our administrators, and many of our community members who are already around town. So the thought process is we will have a more impactful board meeting.”
