FCMS Student Accused of Having Pocket Knife on Bus

(Franklin County, IN) – A Franklin County Middle School student is facing disciplinary action for reportedly being in possession of a pocket knife on a transfer bus at Mt. Carmel Elementary on Wednesday.

Superintendent Dustin Gehring wrote in a letter to parents and guardians that the situation was immediately addressed and, in accordance with district polices, the student was picked up and the appropriate disciplinary procedures are being followed.

Gehring added while such news of this nature is concerning, he wrote the safety and wellbeing of all students is the district’s highest priority, and that incidents involving weapons – regardless of intent – are taken very seriously and that school officials act quickly to maintain a safe environment for everyone.
