Gilbert Hensley, age 94, of Brookville, Indiana died Sunday, April 13, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky following a brief illness.
Born October 19, 1930 in Clay County, Kentucky he was one of ten children born to the late Bradley & Lena (Combs) Hensley. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. On June 2, 1951 he and the former Juanita Rice were united in marriage, and she preceded him in death on August 17, 2018.
Gil retired after spending most of his career as a truck driver. He was a member of the Brookville Church of Christ, the Metamora Masonic Lodge, as well as the Bernard Hurst Post #77 of the American Legion.
Survivors include a daughter, Regina Hensley of Bellevue, Kentucky, three grandchildren, Kelsey (Tyler) Mairose, Jacob (Abby) Hensley, and Andrew Hensley; as well as several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Juanita, he was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Hensley who died November 6, 2008; sisters, Verta Sullivan, Martha Webb, Helen Jones, Gladys Daniel; brothers, James Hensley, Elbert Hensley, Arthur Hensley, Earl Hensley, as well as an infant brother.
Family & friends may visit from 2 until 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, 1025 Franklin Avenue, Brookville.
The Masonic Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 P.M., Saturday, April 19, 2025 at Phillips & Meyers Funeral Home, immediately following the Masonic Service there will be a celebration of life. The family asks those attending to bring a photo, or story to share at that time.
Private family interment will take place in Greendale Cemetery in Osgood, Indiana.
