Purdue Survives and Advances

(Providence, RI) – The Purdue Boilermakers survived a scare from High Point, 75-63 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional Thursday in Providence, Rhode Island.

The Panthers tied the game at one point in the second half, but the Boilermakers were able to pull away late.

Trey Kaufman-Renn scored a game-high 21 points for Purdue, while teammate and Big Ten Player of the Year Braden Smith added 20.

Camden Heide notched a double double, scoring 10 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.

The fourth-seeded Boilermakers advance to face #12 seed McNeese in the second round tomorrow shortly after 12 Noon.

The Cowboys upset fifth-seeded Clemson, 69-67 in the first round on Thursday.
