Herman “Doug: Douglas, 87, Milan

Herman “Doug” Douglas, 87, of Milan passed away Friday, March 14, 2025, at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. Doug was born on Friday, July 16, 1937, in Kentucky; son of Cecil and Lela (Caine) Douglas. Doug served in the United States Army during Korean Wartime from 1954-1957. Doug worked as a mail carrier for United States Postal Service for many years where he retired, then later worked as a security guard at Argosy Casino. He married his lifelong love of 64 years, JoAnn (Ross) Douglas, on August 20, 1960, and she survives. Doug was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, VFW Social Club in Cincinnati, and Milan American Legion Post #235, where he was a past commander. He enjoyed going golfing and bowling, playing cards, throwing horseshoes, and traveling. Most of all Doug loved and cherished his family.

Doug will be missed by his wife JoAnn Douglas of Milan; son Michael Douglas of Batesville; brother-in-law Lou Ross of Cincinnati; son-in-law Dan Gunter; sisters-in-law Michaelyn (Joe) Bosse of Cincinnati and Paula Ross of Cincinnati; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Lela Douglas; daughter Denise Gunter; 2 sisters; and brother-in-law Joseph Ross.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home. Rosary services will be officiated by Father Frank Eckstein at 9:45 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM with Father Binu Matthew officiating. Military rites will be provided by Milan American Legion Post #235. Memorials may be given in honor of Doug to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or American Cancer Society.
