Melissa Ann Mourey, 56

Melissa Ann Mourey, aged 56, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, surrounded by her family, after a courageous six-year battle with leiomyosarcoma.

Born on July 1, 1968, in Greensburg, Melissa was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Alvina (Hodapp) Kress. A proud graduate of Greensburg High School, Class of 1985, she devoted over 20 years to her career as a regional account manager at West Essex Graphics, where her professionalism and dedication were well-respected. In addition to her role at West Essex, she also skillfully managed A&W.

Melissa had a passion for cooking and baking, often sharing her delectable creations with family and friends, bringing warmth and joy to gatherings. She took great pride in her garden, where her roses flourished under her meticulous care. Her love for the outdoors was evident, especially during vacations spent with family and friends, enjoying life’s simple pleasures, like savoring a Blue Moon or feeling the sand beneath her feet.

Perhaps one of Melissa’s greatest joys was in supporting her grandchildren at their various sporting events. Whether it was basketball, baseball, tennis, or cheerleading, she was their most ardent supporter, cheering them on with enthusiasm and pride. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit enriched the lives of everyone who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength that will be profoundly missed.

Melissa is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Frank Mourey; her children, Jessica (Chad) Adkins and Anthony (Courtney) Mourey; her treasured grandchildren, Justin Adkins, Myles Adkins, Archer Mourey, Lucinda Mourey, and Winston Mourey. She is also survived by her father, Kenny Kress; mother, Alvina Kress; brother, Michael (Teresa) Kress; aunt, Rita Kress; uncle, Tom (Rose) Kress; mother-in-law, Mary Tompkins; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A rosary will be prayed in her memory on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home at 3:00 PM, followed by a reception-style visitation from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10:00 AM, with Father John Meyer officiating.
