South Ripley topped Jac-Cen-Del 54-38 in the boys basketball regular season finale heard last night on the Sports Voice. The Raiders’ Drew Volz led all scorers with 17 points; Cole Henry added 14 and Chancie Volz had 11. Johnny Newhart led the Eagles with 12 points. With the win, South Ripley clinches the outright ORVC title with a perfect 6-0 mark, and heads into sectional play next week at 21-1 overall. JCD falls to 6-16 and ends with a 2-4 record in conference play.
Elsewhere, East Central dispatched Greensburg 45-29 to clinch a three-way tie for the EIAC championship. The Trojans share it with the Pirates and Lawrenceburg at 5-2. It’s the first time EC has won at least a share of the conference crown since 2011. The Trojans finish the regular season at 9-13; The Pirates head into the postseason at 12-11…It was Milan over Union County 75-38…And Knightstown held off South Decatur 69-61.

College basketball, 20th ranked Purdue snapped a four-game losing streak by downing UCLA 76-66 in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers improve to 20-9 overall and are fourth in the Big Ten standings at 12-6.
