(Orange County, IN) – A week after he was shot in the line of duty, Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Zac Andry was still in critical condition.
Indiana State Police say Andry was shot four times – including in the head and neck – by Austin Schepers on January 3.
Schepers was later found in Louisville, Kentucky, where he was shot and killed by officers.
In an update Thursday, ISP said Andry is “stable” but sedated at the University of Louisville Hospital.
The agency says he is “a fighter,” and that doctors and nurses are optimistic about his recovery, but the deputy faces a long recovery.
His family asks that you continue to send “positive thoughts and well-wishes” in Andry’s direction.
Those who would like to provide financial assistance to the Andry family may do so through an account hosted by Springs Valley Bank and Trust in French Lick, or through an account hosted by the Indiana Fallen Heroes Foundation.
