Oldenburg Academy Shines at Invitational

Once again, the Twisters crossed state lines and delivered standout performances, earning four first-place finishes at one of the longest-running invitationals in the region. Competing against eight teams in both boys and girls events, Oldenburg Academy swimmers made their mark at the 47th annual Best of the West Invitational.

Record-Breaking Performances by Nash King
Nash King stole the show with two first-place finishes that not only set personal bests but also broke long-standing meet records.

  • 100 Fly: King clocked in at 52.03, surpassing the previous record of 52.39 set in 1998.
  • 500 Free: King’s time of 4:37.33 shattered the 1997 record of 4:45.62.

Additional Twister Highlights

  • Alejandra Schutte: First Place in the 200 IM and Fifth Place in the 500 Free.
  • Santiago Schutte: First Place in the 200 IM, successfully defending his 2023 title, and Second Place in the 100 Free.
  • Relay Teams:
    • Third Place in the 200 Medley Relay (Nash King, Santiago Schutte, Sully Hill, Grant Rosenberger).
    • Third Place in the 200 Free Relay (Santiago Schutte, Albert Hudepohl, Grant Rosenberger, Nash King).
    • Boys 400 Free Relay team posted their best time of the season at 4:47.34.
  • Kylee McCray: Made her debut with a solid 42.13 in the 50 Free.

The girls’ relay teams also put in strong efforts:

  • 200 Medley Relay: Fourth Place (Alejandra Schutte, Avery Austin, Caroline Niese, Ella Maxwell).
  • 200 Free Relay: A close fourth-place finish, just .03 seconds ahead of the next team.

Team Success
With 11 of 13 swimmers scoring points, the Twisters showcased depth and determination throughout the meet. Congratulations to all athletes for their outstanding performances!
