The Chicago Bears fired head coach and former Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Friday, one day after botching a timeout situation in a loss at Detroit. The Bears allowed the clock to run down while trailing the Lions 23-20, which prevented a potential tying field goal or winning touchdown. Chicago was 14-32 in two-plus seasons under Eberflus. Bears offensive coordinator Thomas Brown has been named interim coach.
The Indianapolis Colts and the Irsay family have announced a $1 million investment to make girls high school flag football an IHSAA-sanctioned sport. Twenty-seven schools around the state currently participate. One hundred schools must compete while in “emerging sport” status before it can become eligible as a fully sanctioned IHSAA sport.
