Class 1A #15 Oldenburg Academy topped Morristown 52-44 in girls basketball action heard last night on WRBI.

On tonight’s schedule, Franklin County heads up State Road 101 to Union County, and South Ripley entertains Lawrenceburg.

Batesville swept South Decatur in boys middle school basketball last night. It was the Bulldogs over the Cougars 44-16 in the 7th grade; and BMS took the 8th grade contest 33-17.

A trip to Lucas Oil Stadium is on the line when Batesville makes the long trek to Lincoln City to face #2 Heritage Hills in the football Class 3A South Semi-State tonight. Terrance Arney and Tom Snape will have the call on 103.9 FM, wrbiradio.com and the WRBI app starting with pregame coverage at 7:00. The winner will take on either Garrett or Fort Wayne Bishop Luers for the 3A state championship next Saturday.

East Central grad and Mt. St. Joseph University wide receiver Eli Aston is the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Aston is ranked fourth in the country in receiving yards in Division III with 1,262. He’s also scored 13 touchdowns. Aston’s former EC and current Mt. St. Joe teammate, offensive lineman Devin Salyers, was named 2nd Team All-HCAC. The Lions finished the regular season at 8-2 and will meet John Carroll in the first round of the Division III playoffs tomorrow.

Austin Bowling has been hired as the head baseball coach at South Dearborn High School. He succeeds Jay Malott, who retired in July after 29 years leading the program. Bowling is a 2017 Lawrenceburg High School graduate who was a standout athlete in baseball and football for the Tigers. He was on Malott’s staff as an assistant in 2022. Bowling becomes just the third baseball coach in the 47-year history of the South Dearborn program. Larry Hornbach preceded Malott in leading the Knights on the ball diamond.

In college football tonight, Purdue is at Michigan State.
