Richard Earl Clark, of Greensburg passed away on November 16, 2024. He was born on June 12, 1945, in Greensburg, Indiana the son of Alfred and Elizabeth Lacey Clark. Richard was a 1963 graduate of Greensburg Community High School. He married Elaine Johnson on March 17, 1968, and together they had two children, Susan and Chad. Richard was a long-time member of the Greensburg Fire Department and a member of Lion’s Club. He loved playing golf, completing crossword puzzles, watching race car events, and attending Greensburg Pirate basketball games. Additionally, he loved watching his grandchildren participate in all their activities. Richard was a US Air Force Veteran and a former Decatur County jail commander.
Survivors include: wife, Elaine Clark; son, Chad Clark; grandson, Casey Clark; and granddaughter, Samantha Miller; sister, Julie Meece; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ann Chance, Paula Sue (Roy) McDuffee, and Imia Clark; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Susan Miller; brother, Robert Clark; brother-in-law David Chance; and brother-in-law Rick Meece. Richard was a very caring husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and his love was endless. He will truly be missed.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, at the funeral home at 10:00 am with a visitation one hour prior and broadcast live on the Gilliland-Howe Facebook Page. Pastor Greg Redd will be officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
